Uziza Leaves
Uziza Leaves are a classic Nigerian spice leaf from Piper guineense (often called “oziza/uziza”) known for a peppery aroma and warming taste that lifts traditional soups and stews. They’re widely used to flavor pepper soup and other richly seasoned pots where you want that bold, authentic fragrance.
To use, rinse, slice thin, and add near the end of cooking so the aroma stays bright and flavorful. These leaves pair especially well with dishes like Nsala (white soup), egusi-style soups, and pepper soup—use a little, taste, then adjust. Uziza Leaves can be stored chilled (fresh) or kept frozen/dried depending on how your pack is sold—follow your pack instructions for best results.
