Mornarch Wheatlet
Monarch Wheatlet (often called “wheatlets”) is a fine granular wheat product commonly used in many African homes to make wheat amala (a smooth swallow) and also works well as a warm, creamy porridge. It’s a great pantry staple when you want something filling, smooth, and easy to pair with soups and stews.
To prepare, bring water to a boil, then gradually add the wheatlet while stirring/turning until it becomes smooth and firm (for swallow) or slightly lighter (for porridge). Serve hot with egusi, okra, vegetable soup, or any rich sauce—this product absorbs seasoning well and gives a satisfying texture in every bite.
